KUALA LUMPUR: A second Malaysian to fly into space will depend on a “post-mortem” of the effects outer space has on Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said on Saturday that there was a possibility of a second angkasawan in the near future.
On Wednesday, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar made history when he be-came the first Malaysian in space.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi gave the Government’s commitment that Kapt Dr Faiz Khaleed (Dr Sheikh Mus-zaphar’s backup) would be the second Malaysian to go to space.

Space Mission Details:-Expedition 16 Commander Peggy Whitson, Soyuz Commander and Flight Engineer Yuri Malenchenko and Malaysian Spaceflight Participant Sheikh Muzaphar Shukor were launched on a Russian Soyuz TMA-11 spacecraft on Oct. 10, 2007 at 9:22am ET from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to begin, what for Whitson and Malenchenko, will be a six-month mission on the International Space Station. Shukor will spend nine days on the space station, returning to Earth Oct. 21 in the Soyuz TMA-10 capsule with the Expedition 15 crew of Commander Fyodor Yurchikhin and Flight Engineer Oleg Kotov.
